OUR FIRST ACADEMY SCHOLAR

OUR FIRST ACADEMY SCHOLAR

Our FIRST Academy scholar!

Ahead of the Hawks 7s and with our Performance Camps just around the corner, we’re delighted to announce Caleb Reeves as our first academy scholar.

Caleb, a member of our Midlands South Academy Group began his journey with the Academy back in April, and has since featured in training and tournaments with our U23, Development and Senior squads! He most recently featured in the double win at House Of Hope 7s on Saturday!

In becoming a scholar, Caleb progresses up to our Academy pathway, receiving more support from our team including enhanced training and development opportunities and 1:1 support from our full-time performance team  amongst other benefits. The scholarship is set-up to reward the hard work and potential of some of our rising stars within the Academy.

On receiving his scholarship Caleb had this to say “In what has been a whirlwind couple of months I am glad to be able to commit to The Egg Chasers and see where my journey takes me within the 7s arena. With the opportunities that have already being afforded to me, in playing with international 7s players,  I hope I can learn, grow and develop my skills over the coming years and perhaps one day play professionally.”

Michael, Caleb’s dad added “Both his mum and I are immensely proud that Caleb has been offered, and signed, a Scholarship contract with the Egg Chaser 7s. He has always been a talented rugby player and it will be good to see him tested at the highest level. The support and guidance he has already received from his coaches, their support staff and his team mates at Egg Chasers, has been excellent and we look forward to seeing him play more and more 7s over the coming years.”

Caleb’s scholarship and the support offered to him has been sponsored by sString who, as always, we are appreciative of their support.

Arun Watkins CEO and Founder of EggChaser said “Caleb is a cracking kid. He has heaps of potential and I’m delighted we can offer him the opportunity within the Academy to keep progressing. I want him to be a role model for our younger and future academy players as they continue to aspire to become elite sevens players. I’d like to say a big thank you to Carl Hassan and his team, who once again have supported us.”

Caleb has been selected to represent the EggChaser Thistles this weekend at the Hawks 7s ahead of flying out to the USA to represent a partner of ours, Gorilla Rugby in the NAI 7s. This fantastic opportunity has been made possible to a number of academy players this summer.

We will be making further scholarship announcements in due course. Want to sponsor a Scholar? please email us at academy@eggchasersevens.com
