The EggChaser 7s North Arrives For 2025

The North 7s

Looking ahead to an exciting year of 7s ahead, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting addition to our partnership with Darlington Mowden Park RFC.

This partnership which already sees the club host the EggChaser 7s North East Academy squads for training and performance camps, will see EggChaser host the first ever EggChaser 7s North at the 26,500 capacity Darlington Arena. The tournament will act as the sister tournament to the Southern based, EggChaser International 7s, which last year was won by Monaco Impis and the Lionesses respectively with over 20,000 tuning in from across the world in the last 2 years to watch the event.

The tournament hosted on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June, will see Elite, Open and Youth sides from across the globe competing at the event. Alongside first-class rugby action, spectators will be able to enjoy a range of food and drink vendors, with a number of rugby and non-rugby focused branded stalls also in attendance.

Alongside the June Invitational tournament , EggChaser will also host the North Schools 7s at the club from Monday 10th March to Friday 14th. This competition played across the Arena and the adjacent pitches is open to school teams from Years 7 to 13, and will run with the same level of professional management of all EggChaser events.

Bobbie Tenwick, Darlington Mowden Park Girls Coach and EggChaser 7s Academy North East Admin had this to say on the tournament coming to Darlington “The 1st 7s event held at the Arena was a great start and definitely something that will grow.  It was good to see current academy players at the event that we had seen at EggChaser International 7s and new aspirational players who were keen to come to future events and training. We had girls and boys from DMP who were part of the south festival weekend and with the similar level of world-class talent coming to the Arena, I think it’ll only inspire the players even more.”

Arun Watkins, EggChaser CEO & Founder added his thoughts – “Since my first visit to the Arena, I was taken aback by the quality of the facilities on offer. It’s my belief, that coupled with the growth of our North Academy regions, we need to create a platform for the next generation of players to aspire to play at. By delivering an International, Junior and Schools 7s competition in the region, we hope to achieve this.
